OUR STORY
Creating a more connected and
positive world through every sketch
It started with a simple initiative in 2017: A monthly sketching challenge to slow down, be present, and capture a moment from our lives through art. But as the months went by, the challenge grew into something unexpected — a community. A tribe. A family of artists spread out all across the world, yet connected through a love of sketching
and an even greater love for supporting one another.
We’re glad you’re here.
Our Values
1. Slowing down
We love being present and capturing those small yet sacred memories from our lives. Life may be moving faster than ever, but our sketchbooks are amazing tools for recording life’s little moments.
2. Sharing our world
We love the diversity and global nature of our tribe. Sketching is not only a great way to share our own unique corner of the world — it’s a powerful way of learning about ways of life different from our own.
3. Supporting one another
Moment Sketchers is a wonderfully supportive community. We believe in helping each other on our individual creative journeys, sharing tips and tricks, and celebrating our milestones and victories.
“See if you can nail down eternity right now.
Give me this sterling moment, just as it is…
This is it: just as you are.
Get it down. Go.”
— Natalie Goldberg

Our Team
Candace Rardon
Founder — United States
Originally from the East Coast of the U.S., Candace has spent the past ten years traveling the world and living abroad — always with her sketchbook in tow. Her artwork has appeared on National Geographic, BBC Travel, and the Calm meditation app, among others, and she’s also been featured by the New York Times as a sketch artist. But her greatest honor has been founding the Moment Sketchers community, which continues to evolve in so many new and unexpected ways.
José Bonifacino
Chief Ideas Officer — Uruguay
José was born and raised in Montevideo, Uruguay, where he earned a degree in architecture and now works as an architect and designer. In 2016, his passion for Scandinavian architecture led him to Norway, where he and Candace first connected over a shared love for sketching and photography. A few months later, they moved to Montevideo together, and ever since, José’s inventive ideas and eye for design have played a crucial role in the development of Moment Sketchers.
Amanda Thompson
Community Manager — Australia
Born and bred in rural Queensland, Australia, Amanda briefly left to get a Science degree but returned home where she has the privilege of teaching (and learning with) her wonderful class of primary school children. True serendipity meant that despite previously surviving an art-free existence, Amanda decided to begin to learn how to sketch just months before Moment Sketchers was born and she loves being part of a supportive, positive and beautiful online community.
