Dear Moment Sketchers,
We’ve got so much to celebrate as the third year of our global sketching tribe draws to a close. More than 80 artists joined our challenges each month, from over 20 countries around the world!
This year especially, we welcomed artists from places as diverse as Latvia, Bulgaria, Kenya, and Réunion Island in the Indian Ocean. If you had told me at the start of our challenges three years ago just how much our community would grow and evolve, I’m not sure I would’ve believed you.
But there’s one thing that hasn’t changed (and I hope it never does!): the amazing spirit of support and encouragement at the heart of our tribe. Every month, I love reading the comments that unfold around your sketches — such as the conversation inspired by Lisa’s beautiful sketch of a cozy stone fireplace in Texas this month, as she wrote about finding our voice and style as artists.
Thank you, Moment Sketchers, for being such a force for good in the world — I can’t wait to see how we continue connecting with each other and with art in 2020.

“Christmas waves a magic wand
over this world, and behold, everything
is softer and more beautiful.”
― Norman Vincent Peale
As Norman Vincent Peale so perfectly said, there is indeed something magical about this time of year — and your sketches for our final sketching challenge of 2019 very much captured the magic of the holiday season. There were snowy Christmas trees and wreaths, cozy fires and freshly baked cookies, and — perhaps my favorite of all — beautiful, crimson-colored poinsettias, said to be a symbol of good cheer and celebration. I couldn’t imagine a better note to end this year on!
