Celebrating our sketches – March 2019

Moment Sketchers, our third sketching challenge of 2019 is officially a wrap, and I’m still smiling from our virtual trip around the world.

For some reason, the global nature of our tribe struck me even more than usual this month. As I sat down on Monday evening and began poring through the incredible array of sketches, I started a running list of all the different places and cultures we got to experience through your moments during this challenge:

We stood in awe of Argentina’s Perito Moreno Glacier. We hiked through majestic snow-capped mountains in Morocco. We celebrated Carnevale in Venice, wandered through a spice market in Tel Aviv, and sipped tea in a cozy teahouse in Toronto.

And to think we could experience all that in a single weekend — and without even leaving our homes 🙂 That, my friends, is some serious magic. What a gift and privilege it is that we’re not only able to move through the world so freely and capture its beauty through art, but that we can also stay connected online and share so many inspiring moments with each other.

This month’s globe-spanning challenge — which included moments from 80 artists in more than 20 countries — reminded me yet again of how big the world is, and how blessed we are to be a part of it. And now, let’s take a look through some highlights from our March challenge:

As I started pulling together this month’s collage of sketches, there was no doubt in my mind what theme to highlight: The vibrant, virtual journey around the globe your sketches offered us last weekend. From a royal palace in Bali to a bustling village in southern Spain, you took us to so many different corners of the world — all in the span of one beautiful weekend:
