Dear Moment Sketchers,
Spanning 23 countries on six continents, our November sketching challenge had to be one of our most diverse weekends yet. From Chile and Latvia to Hong Kong and Kenya, I can’t quite believe the incredible mix of places you all joined in from this month!
But in addition to this virtual journey around the world, this month we also got to celebrate someone’s arrival into the world.
Moment Sketcher Jens is an archaeologist and sketch artist from Berlin, Germany, who’s been a big part of our global tribe from the very beginning. Just a few months into our first year of sketching challenges in 2017, Jens shared a very special set of sketches, announcing the birth of his first child Jonathan. I can still remember the excited comments left by our community, congratulating Jens on such a momentous day for his family:
Somehow, two and a half years have already flown by, and this past weekend, I was amazed to see sketches of another precious newborn gracing our #momentsketchers feed again — this time capturing the arrival of Jens’ second child, a little girl named Elli:
It always feels like a tremendous honor when such sacred life moments are shared with our community, and I can’t wait to see how our sketching family keeps growing and expanding across the globe! Huge congratulations to you and your family, Jens — and to everyone who took part in our November challenge, thank you as always for sharing your world with us.

“Autumn carries more gold in its pocket
than all the other seasons.”
— Jim Bishop
Before I even found the above quote, I had already put together this collage and was fascinated by the shades of gold in so many sketches this month — from Treava’s golden grapevines in Canada and Dorothy’s beautiful capture of the Brighton Royal Pavilion to Sophia’s plate full of bright yellow leaves in Russia (which she so perfectly called “autumn dessert”). Before winter arrives for good in the Northern Hemisphere, here’s one last shimmering celebration of autumn’s beauty:
