Celebrating our sketches – October 2019

Every month, I love the sense of anticipation that precedes our sketching challenges — wondering who will be able to take part, what sketches they’ll share, and from where! It’s always an adventure watching each challenge unfold throughout the weekend, especially when sketches are shared from more unexpected corners of the world.

For this month’s review, I thought I would highlight a few of the more than 120 sketches you all shared, in honor of the incredible beauty and wonder that was captured. I felt truly transported this month, as we traveled to the ancient temples of Chiang Mai, Thailand, with HJ…

…to the peaceful shores of Lake Como, Italy, with Linda…

…and to sunrise over Cappadocia, Turkey, with Candise, as dozens of hot air balloons filled the glowing dawn sky:

And those are just a few transporting moments from our October challenge! From Russia and Réunion Island to India, Indonesia, and Israel, so many sketches were shared that I hope you got to enjoy in our community feed on Instagram — and for me, they all served a singular purpose:

Your sketches reminded me of just how vast the world is, and of the myriad landscapes and stories it holds…thank you for that, Moment Sketchers!

As I was putting this collage together, it occurred to me that perhaps my favorite thing about October is how this collection of sketches couldn’t be mistaken for any other month of the year — from the gorgeous fall palette you all captured to those distinctive pumpkins and ever-changing autumn leaves. Thank you for sharing the magic of this season so beautifully:
